Nova Scotia Lighthouse Sampler (4 days)
There’s something timeless about a lighthouse: standing tall against crashing waves, guiding sailors home and quietly witnessing the changing tides of history. These coastal sentinels have long captured the human imagination, and now you can experience their magic firsthand.
On this four-day tour, sample just a few of Nova Scotia’s over 150 lighthouses. See the iconic beacons at Peggy’s Cove and Yarmouth’s Cape Forchu. But you’ll also have a chance to see some lesser-known lighthouses on the Bay of Fundy and the South and Eastern Shore regions.
Whether you’re drawn by the history, the romance or the sheer scenic wonder, Atlantic Tours’ lighthouse sampler tour promises an unforgettable journey, where every light tells a story.

Itinerary
DAY 1: Tuesday, September 8, 2026
Halifax NS to Yarmouth NS
Your lighthouse adventure begins! Meet your Atlantic Tours tour director and driver upon boarding your coach in Halifax, or a point along the way. Travel through the Annapolis Valley to Digby, home of Point Prim Lighthouse, which offers amazing views over the Bay of Fundy from its grounds. You may even catch a glimpse of the Digby to Saint John ferry as it makes its way to or from port. The last lighthouse of the day is Yarmouth’s Cape Forchu. This unique “apple core” lighthouse is open to visitors and features an intact lightkeeper’s dwelling. Spend the night in the charming coastal town of Yarmouth, where sea captains’ houses line the streets and the ocean’s history is woven into every corner. The evening is free to explore on your own.
DAY 2: Wednesday, September 9, 2026
Yarmouth NS to Western Shore NS
As you travel along Nova Scotia’s South Shore, begin your day at Fort Point Lighthouse in Liverpool. Built in 1855, it is the province’s fourth oldest lighthouse and is open to visitors. You may even have a chance to crank the foghorn! Your journey continues to Port Medway Lighthouse Park for a picture stop. Check out the interpretive panels depicting the area’s maritime history. Lunenburg is your next destination. Established in 1753, it is North America’s best surviving example of a planned British colonial settlement. Explore the town’s waterfront and charming streets at your leisure before arriving in Western Shore for the night. (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 3: Thursday, September 10, 2026
Western Shore NS to Liscomb Mills NS
No lighthouse tour would be complete without seeing Nova Scotia’s most iconic lighthouse: Peggy’s Cove. Perched on wave-washed boulders facing the North Atlantic, discover first-hand why it may be one of the most photographed in Canada, if not the world. Then, head along a road less travelled to Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore. Stop at Hope for Wildlife to learn about their important mission of wildlife rehabilitation and education. Since 1997, they have rescued, rehabilitated and released over 90,000 injured and orphaned wild animals representing over 250 species. Your journey continues eastward to Liscombe Lodge Resort for the night. (Breakfast, Box Lunch, Dinner)
Please note: If Hope for Wildlife is unable to accommodate our group, a substitution will be made.
DAY 4: Friday, September 11, 2026
Liscomb Mills NS to Halifax NS
Begin your day at Port Bickerton Lighthouse Interpretive Centre. The Centre provides a wealth of knowledge about Nova Scotia’s lighthouses and celebrates their place in the province’s history. Afterwards, travel inland past Antigonish to see the Cape George Lighthouse, standing 360 feet above St. George’s Bay. On a clear day, both Cape Breton and Prince Edwards Island are visible on the horizon. In the afternoon, return to Halifax, having experienced many of Nova Scotia’s wonderful lighthouses. (Breakfast, Lunch)
